Health Information
The following pages provide very basic information to help educate people on some of the health issues surrounding all pedigree and non-pedigree cats. I have tried to include some helpful links to provide further reading however if you have any concerns at all about your cat then the only person from whom you should take advice is your qualified veterinarian.
There are never any guarantees when dealing with living beings however, by screening and testing breeders are doing their best to minimise the chances of health issues in your kitten. It is always recommended that you ask to see proof of any screening or testing results.

Methuselah
There is a special list of Maine Coons that have lived to be 15 years or over. This is a very useful tool when selecting for breeding. This list is by no means exhaustive as it relies on people applying to be included. Visit Methuselah's List here. If you own or know of a Maine Coon Cat that has lived to be 15 yrs or older then please have them added to this list. |
Links relating to specific issues can be found on their pages. Here are some other good health related links.
